Looking Toward the Future

by Susan DaffronProtected by Copyscape. Do not copy.

As we approach a new year, it's good to reflect on what has happened and what you'd like to do differently in the upcoming 12 months. Although I detest the term "new year's resolution," one of my favorite quotes from Albert Einstein quips, "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

In the past year, we here at Logical Expressions have sent out 36 issues of the Sandpoint Insider, 23 issues of Pet Tails, and 48 issues of Logical Tips. We've also published four issues of Computor Companion and released three books and one software product. We have two online shopping sites (the LEI Store and the Sandpoint Store) and have shipped out quite a number of products from our little location here in the forest. All this happened while we also were doing editing, writing, programming, and web site development work for clients.

The reality is that as our tiny publishing business grows into (we hope) a larger concern, we need to reevaluate our activities. To that end, we're looking at how we can make our Web sites more useful and easier to access. After analyzing the site logs, we've discovered that first-time visitors may not realize that our newsletter sites (including the Insider) contain literally hundreds of articles. So we're working on a way to reorganize them to make them more accessible.

We're also looking at ways to simplify the newsletters themselves. In early 2007, we will probably discontinue the Sandpoint Insider and Pet Tails in their current forms. We may ask subscribers who want to continue to hear from us to opt into another newsletter which will simply let you know when we've added articles to any of our sites.

On the other hand, none of this is set in stone. Like Sandpoint itself, things change every year. So we're still figuring out what to do. As it turns out many of our readers are not Sandpoint residents; they just like Sandpoint for one reason or another. If any of you have suggestions as to what would make the Insider (or our other newsletters) more useful to you, please speak up and let us know.

For those of you who don't receive Logical Tips, check out our Christmas card outtakes. Our model Cami isn't always exactly cooperative ;-)

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season!
